Specialist remote contractor opportunity for a creative and technically skilled freelance multimedia specialist to assist with video creation, editing, and publishing across multiple platforms.
We’re looking for a creative and technically skilled freelance multimedia specialist to assist with video creation, editing, and publishing across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of SEO and AI-driven multimedia best practices, understands how to optimise video content for discoverability, and can support with end-to-end video and visual content production.
This is a contract-based remote role, with occasional on-site visits in the Gauteng area for filming client interviews, demos, and other branded content.
Key Responsibilities
Video Creation & Editing (Required)
- Record, edit, and produce high-quality short-form and long-form video content (interviews, explainers, product demos, training clips, reels, and YouTube videos).
- Create dynamic shorts, reels, and highlight clips optimised for Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, and website publishing.
- Perform voiceovers, subtitles, and transcripts for accessibility and SEO indexing.
- Optimise all video assets for performance – titles, tags, metadata, thumbnails, and retention pacing.
- Repurpose long-form videos into multiple shorter pieces for social and web use.
Design & Content Support
- Create complementary visual assets in Canva (e.g., social posts, infographics, video covers, carousels).
- Design thumbnails, overlays, and branded graphics consistent with client visual guidelines.
- Assist with infographic design and data visualisation for blog and social amplification.
- Support social media scheduling and multi-platform publishing (Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, and website CMS).
Publishing & Channel Management
- Upload and optimise videos on YouTube, Meta, and LinkedIn, ensuring correct tagging, titles, playlists, and captions.
- Maintain video libraries, organise assets, and ensure metadata consistency across platforms.
- Create and manage transcripts and closed captions for SEO and accessibility.
- Monitor performance metrics and audience engagement insights.
On-Site Recording (Occasional)
- Record footage and audio for client case studies, product demos, or interviews on location in Gauteng.
- Handle basic lighting, framing, and sound setup where required.
- Coordinate with the internal content team for shot lists and interview questions.
SEO & AI Multimedia Optimisation (Beneficial)
- Apply video SEO best practices – keyword-rich descriptions, timestamp chapters, and rich metadata to improve YouTube and Google visibility.
- Understand and apply AI video optimisation principles (e.g., structured transcripts, contextual metadata, entity tagging).
- Bonus: Experience implementing VideoObject schema on websites for enhanced visibility in AI Overviews and video-rich results.
- Collaborate with SEO and web teams to ensure video content aligns with structured data and content strategy.
Experience & Skills Required
- 3+ years’ experience in video editing, multimedia production, or digital content creation.
- Proficiency with tools such as Canva (required), CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar.
- Experience optimising videos for YouTube SEO and multi-platform publishing
- Scripting and storytelling ability for short-form and educational content.
- Excellent attention to detail, self-management, and delivery in a remote environment.
Bonus Skills
- Understanding of AI-driven content optimization and emerging multimedia SEO trends.
- Experience using AI tools for content creation (voiceovers, auto-captioning, repurposing).
- Knowledge of entity-based multimedia optimization for AI Overviews or visual search.
- Comfort working with marketing or SEO teams to align creative output with performance goals.
- Familiarity with VideoObject schema, metadata tagging, and structured transcripts (bonus).
- Experience with infographic design and social post creation/scheduling tools (Meta Business Suite, Later, Hootsuite, etc.).
Ideal Candidate
You’re both creative and strategic – equally comfortable behind a camera, in Canva, or inside a YouTube analytics dashboard. You know how to craft video content that performs, how to optimise it for visibility across platforms, and how to repurpose it for maximum impact.
You take ownership of projects, deliver on time, and have an eye for both brand alignment and storytelling precision.
